CJR Martial Arts strives to create a positive learning environment for you and your children. With over 15 years teaching experience, Fourth Degree Master Instructor Chris Redford’s teaching methods have shown, students respond and achieve higher goals when they are encouraged, motivated, and overall having fun in class. Along with Confidence, Concentration, and Respect, our curriculum is designed to create positive decision-making skills that are essential to the building blocks of our community. Students quickly understand how difficult Martial Arts is physically and mentally and learn to face that challenge, after all, it’s the challenge that makes it fun.
CJR Martial Arts is a school of American Tae Kwon Do, founded by the “Father of American Tae Kwon Do” Grand Master Jhoon Rhee. Our curriculum consists of five major components: Forms, Combinations, Sparring, breaking, and Weapons. There are three weapons taught at CJR; Nunchaku, Bo-Staff, and the Samurai Sword, all of which derive from Japanese Martial Arts.
Unlike most studios, CJR does not believe in the “use it or lose it” system. We understand, students play other sports, go on vacations, and need to focus on their school work. It doesn’t make sense to pay for a program that has a time limit, besides, Martial Arts cannot be rushed. CJR has an “Achievement” based program, designed to allow the student to advance at their pace and not worry about the program expiring before they have had the chance to achieve their goal. Along with the standard “Monthly” program, CJR has belt packages. For Example: White to Gold Belt is roughly a six month program. Since it is solely up to the discretion of the instructor to deem a student ready to test, this program may take seven to eight months to complete. Your program will not expire until the goal of Gold Belt has been met. Belt testing takes place once a month for all belt levels.
What ages do you teach?
We accept students as young as 4 years old. Children 14 years and older are considered adults and will follow the schedule as such. You are never too old to start Martial Arts, ask us about our adult classes and how to begin.
How long is each class?
Classes range from 30 minutes for beginners to 60 minutes for advanced students. We have convenient class times for Home Schooled children, After School children, and Adults.
How many times per week should I attend class?
Each belt level consists of 3 classes per week. CJR recommends you attend at least 2 classes per week to achieve your goal on time. As students advance and get closer to achieving Black Belt, more attendance will be required.
